So .. I've got myself a YouTube account (the flickr account was last month) ... I do think I may have entered the 21st Century ...

YESSS!!!! Disabling auto-formatting works!!!!Now to sort out those wings!!!!

This is the view from our slightly cramped Glasgow hotel room: the flights were no more disturbing than the trains at home ... and look at those hills!

The small rooms have an advantage, as ExMemSec noted: normally when we get home our bedroom seems cluttered ... this time it seemed spacious.

I hope that html's better ... it's a long story, but I downloaded ie-beyond-the-pale by accident, and although I've tried to delete it, and now use mozilla, I get this wierd transparancy stuff which means I am never quite sure that I am seeing the whole picture/getting all the instructions. Metaphor for my life. Gameplan: buy ExMemSec a new laptop, to replace old one that _this_ laptop was meant to replace. Move over stuff. Scrub out this laptop. Move stuff back. That might sort the ie problem, but not life.

I am having a cortisone injection in one finger on Monday - hurrah - which should, at least temporarily fix the left hand (my ring finger is now permanently touching my palm).  The diffuse pain in my other hand is now, i think, resolving itself to be trigger finger of the index finger.  Which at least would mean I know what is coming!

Confounding Tales: well ... CT is the second in what may be a series of utterly fab cons.  The first one was Victorian SF, this one was inter-war SF.  For the weekend, people dress up in the appropriate costumes.  Did I mention the Ceiligh band leader said that he had never seen people more inappropriately dressed for a ceiligh?  We were 'brides of the space baron' or 'alien dignitories'.  Let me see if I can get an image in here ...

That is ExMemSec in his 'flying gear' - there is a rocket-pack between his wings.

I really liked how

journalled Sarehole, so this is a similar stream of consciousness on Confounding Tales.

getting up at five so we could have a day in Glasgow ahead of the con is Good in Theory, Knackering in practice:
small airport hotel : ladies' loo is called "the powder room" a sign and a portent
took taxi to the House for an Artist - far less extravagant/costly than return journey of bus to centre of Glasgow, bus to airport, taxi to hotel ... memo to self: be extravagant, it pays.
great lunch at HforanA - puff pastry little nothing followed by rubarb ice-cream with a vanilla risotto (rice pudding!) and cheese plate ... memo to self: be extravagant, it pays.
complimented on my death  in opening games (style entirely due to the fact I put on a kilo since I bought frock on ebay - and now cannot bend or breathe) .... met [info]tlanti (who liked my bling) ....
intersting papers, games, games, games, adequate food (not a cholesterol-friendly dish in sight - well, there was the 'duo of salmon', but I never got around to it to see whether one of the pair involved cream).

And utter agony from hand.  Ended up screaming like a two year old on Sunday afternoon.

Monday, went to Kelvingrove - the best art museum I have been too this millenium.  Gods, I am so jealous of Glaswegians!

flight delayed on way back: buckets at Heathrow to catch the drips.

Tuesday: was very brusque with a Flaming Idiot in Policy and Performance.  Hand HURTS.  Made the descision not to go back to work until hand stops hurting.
