Did this weekend work?

Weekend almost over ... feeling cool and clean and vanilla-scented after bath, waiting for hair to dry, and then I'll go to bed ... I think to sleep well, and feeling quite positive about getting through tonnes of stuff at work on Monday.
Which leads me to wonder, did this weekend work? From my work-hat point of view, yes indeed.

Friday I had a TOIL morning, in which I was a board member for a Arts Development Company, then worked afternoon on budget reportage (just making 6pm deadline), hared across county (meeting old boss at an interchange station), Archaeology Society Council, got train as far back as interchange station (for the 4th time of the day), and seeing that a train home would take a further hour and a quarter, persuaded ExMemSec to pick me up, and so arrived home only just after eleven.
Despite feeling utterly knackered from Thursday evening on, Saturday saw me doing laundry, balancing bank account, taking Kiwi and Broggy for their annual examination (both passed, vet very pleased with Broggy's weight, and suggests stopping Kiwi's anti-inflammatory for a trial period) and generally life-sorting things that I am too tired to do in the evenings.
Today I sorted out left hand - writing to GP so that I can be done at the Bendenden hospital, probably straight after return from Japan. Did first Japanese lesson. Made a tonne of pasta salad and tomato salad. Bought quiche, did some more of 'heap' and in-box, and drove off to Mundeli Sernieva's revived annual Concrete Cows Picnic - "world cow fest". A real pleasure to see people we haven't seen for ages, eat too much of the wrong things, and eat quite a lot of Pimms.
Got home, fed cats, poured a sober ExMemSec a BlackFox, loaded dishwasher, and headed for the bath..
All of which leaves me feeing mostly relaxed and positive. BUT notice what's missing: not one word of thesis edited!!! Only thesis-thing done was respond to an IT guy who was supposed to have reprojected my maps: he says 'oops, I just found your discs'.
This makes it very clear to me: either I get a 3 month sabbatical to finish it, or I must resign. Which is sad, because I have growing periods in which I actually like my job...
